BCDC's year-long ranking system · 2026 Season

What Are Bag Tags?

Bag tags are our year-long ranking system. Every member gets a numbered tag — lower is better. Tags are on the line any time you play with another tag holder. Beat someone with a lower number, you swap. The goal: hold the lowest tag you can by season's end.

Tags cost $20 for the full 2026 season, which also includes a $5 discount code for your 2026 PDGA membership.

How Scoring Works

Teams earn points based on their relative performance in each competition within their division. In strokes-based rounds, teams are ranked by score — lowest score earns the most points, ties split points evenly. Match Play points are earned hole-by-hole and aggregated to team totals. After all preliminary rounds, each team's total points determine their starting score advantage heading into the Championship Round — the team with the most points tees off with the biggest head start. The Championship Round uses Team Alternate Shot, and final standings combine the starting advantage with the Championship Round score.

FAQ & Contact

Frequently asked questions about BCDC

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a bag tag?
Bag tags cost $20 for the full 2026 season. Reach out to a TD at any Tag Challenge event or post on the Message Board. Tags are numbered and assigned at the start of the season or when you join.
Do I need a PDGA number to participate?
You don't need a PDGA number for most BCDC events. However, for sanctioned PDGA tournaments you will need an active PDGA membership. BCDC members get a $5 discount code for their 2026 PDGA membership.
How do bag tag swaps work on casual rounds?
Tags are assumed to be on the line any time two or more tag holders play together — just confirm with your playing partners before teeing off hole 1. If you shoot lower than someone with a lower-numbered tag, you swap after the round.
How do I qualify for the Match Play Championship?
You must play in 5 or more Tag Challenge Series or sanctioned BCDC PDGA events (casual tag rounds don't count), across at least 2 different quarters, and you must play in at least one Q4 event. Seeding is based on your bag tag number at the end of Q4.
What courses do you play at?
We rotate around the Triangle — Leigh Farm Park, Valley Springs, Cornwallis Hills, UNC Finley, and other local courses. The specific course for each event is announced on the Message Board and Events calendar.
How does the payout work at Tag Challenge events?
Pro/Open ($12 entry): $8 goes to day-of payout, $3 to the Match Play fund, $1 to the ace pot. Am/Lower ($8 entry): $4 day-of, $3 Match Play fund, $1 ace pot. Women's ($5 entry): $2 day-of, $3 Match Play fund, free ace pot entry, and the club adds $3 per FPO player to the Women's payout.
